"Shirley Temple Poke Cake"

Random Fact: I'm not a particular fan of cherries, but I LOVE Shirley Temples.
Doesn't make sense, I know.
- 1 box white cake mix
* 3 eggs, 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 small jar Maraschino Cherries | save liquid
- Cold 7-Up
- 3 oz. box cherry Jello
Cool Whip Vanilla Frosting
- 1 cup Milk
- 3.5oz package vanilla pudding mix
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz Cool Whip Tub
Mix cake batter somewhat according to box directions, using oil and eggs mentioned above, but substituting water with all of the juice from the jar of cherries (I got about 1 cup |almost| of cherr juice) and the rest of the amount with 7 Up. After batter is completely mixed, fold in chopped cherries. Bake according to package directions. Cool cake completely.
Hint: Bake cake in pan you want to serve in! :-)
Once cake is cool, use the wrong end of a wooden spoon and poke holes all over the cake. Let that sit out while you prepare the Jell-O.
Prepare Jell-O by boiling one cup of water. One jello dissolved in water quickly add one cup of chilled 7 Up and mix until incorporated.
Pour liquid Jell-O all over the top of the cake, letting it seep into all of the poked holes. Refrigerate overnight. Frost with Vanilla Cool Whip Frosting - recipe above!
This cake is SO tasty. It really does taste like a delicious Shirley Temple drink! <3
